Adding and Managing Properties and Units
Properties and units: what is the difference?
- A property is the building or land: an apartment block, a villa, a commercial complex.
- A unit is the rentable part inside it: a flat, an office, a shop.
One property may contain dozens of units, and each unit is leased under its own contract. This split is the basis of everything else: contracts, tenants and payments all attach to the unit, not to the property.
Viewing properties
From the sidebar → "Properties". The list shows your properties with their basic details and unit counts.
The list merges two sources: properties you added yourself, and properties coming from the Ejar platform if any exist. See Ejar platform data to understand the second.
Adding a property
From "Properties" → the add-property button. You go through steps entering the property's details: its type, name, location and specifics.
Notes:
- The data you enter here later appears on contracts and invoices, so enter it accurately from the start.
- A property you add manually is yours alone; it is not sent to or registered with the Ejar platform.
Editing a property
Open the property from the list and edit its details. Properties coming from the Ejar platform are read-only inside Property Management and are not edited here; editing happens in their own flow.
Managing units
From the sidebar → "Units", or from inside the property's page.
Each unit has a number, floor, type, area, rent value and status. Status is the most operationally important field:
- Occupied — it has an active contract and a tenant.
- Vacant — available to lease.
Occupied and vacant units are counted in the dashboard cards, so accurate status feeds straight into your figures.
If a property or unit does not appear
Try in this order:
- 1Reopen the page. Lists are read when the page opens, not live.
- 2Check the filters and search at the top of the list; the item may be excluded by a filter.
- 3If you are a team member: check that you hold view properties or view units. Without it the section does not appear at all.
- 4If the property came from the Ejar platform: see Ejar platform data inside Property Management — the list may be empty for a known, documented reason.
- 5If you just added it: make sure the save completed and no error appeared during the process.
